(EN) "Leviticus" is the primary book utilized by ultraconservative religious groups in the 21st century, particularly among evangelicals, to justify their hatred and discrimination against the LGBTQIA+ community. It is an extremely violent text, filled with behavioral, religious, and moral rules that relate to the legal system of a people that likely existed around 1,200 B.C. In their hate speeches, these ultraconservatives exclude the numerous rules that don't particularly interest them, such as verses that talk about the obligation to offer sacrifices to God with dead animals for self-purification using their blood and fat, or about confining women while they are menstruating, or even how to cut their hair or beards. On the other hand, there is an extremely strong attachment to verse 18:22: "You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination." If we analyze it rigorously, the only thing this verse addresses is the position of having sex between two men, not sex itself. There is also no mention of sex between two women.
In reality, what you find are violent rules about whom or what to stone, kill, or behead, and almost no mention of the word "love," which should be the most important rule for all faithful followers of Jesus Christ. What we see is the incongruity in the extreme manipulation of a text that no longer applies to reality, in order to justify prejudice and hatred against a minority. It's worth remembering the ease with which any new evangelical church can be formally established and becoming a pastor, a position that aims unequivocally for influence and control over its followers. However, the desire for such manipulation extends to everyone else, believers or not, leading to continuous monitoring of human sexuality. So, if any religious leader can apply their own interpretation to what is meant to be a book of rules and choose only what interests them, why couldn't I do the same? Beyond the obsession with others' sexuality, I turn to what should be the only rule for Christians: "Love your neighbor as yourself." Thus, in this work, I proceed with the intervention of black acrylic paint in the form of censorship over all the rules that go against what my long Christian upbringing proposed as obvious. In my role as a pastor, I highlight the only words that fit human reality through my biblical interpretation of Leviticus: the word "AMA" ("love" in portugueses)"
(PT) O "Levítico" é o principal livro utilizado por religiosos ultraconservadores no século XXI, sobretudo evangélicos, para justificar seu ódio e discriminação contra a comunidade LGBTQIA+. Trata-se de um texto extremamente violento, repleto de regras comportamentais, religiosas e morais que se relacionam ao sistema legal de um povo que provavelmente existiu acerca de 1.200 a.C.. Em seus discursos de ódio, tais ultraconservadores excluem todas as inúmeras regras que não lhes interessam particularmente, assim como, por exemplo, os versículos que falam sobre a obrigatoriedade de realizar oferendas a Deus com animais mortos para autopurificação com sangue e gordura dos mesmos, sobre enclausurar mulheres enquanto estiverem menstruadas ou ainda como sobre como cortar seus cabelos ou barbas. Por outro lado, há um apego extremamente contudente ao versículo 18:22 "Com homem não te deitarás, como se fosse mulher; abominação é". Se analisarmos de maneira rigorosa, a única coisa que tal versículo aborda é a posição de se fazer sexo entre dois homens, não o sexo em sí. Também não há qualquer menção ao sexo entre duas mulheres.
Na realidade, tudo o que se encontra são regras violentas sobre quem ou o que apedrejar, matar ou decapitar, e quase em nenhum momento referência a palavra "amor", esta que deveria ser a mais importante regra de todos aqueles fiés seguidores de Jesus Cristo. O que vemos é a incongruência na manipulação extrema de um texto que não se aplica mais à realidade, de forma a justificar o preconceito e o ódio à uma minoria. Vale à pena lembrar a enorme facilidade que reside no processo de se formalizar a abertura de qualquer nova igreja evangélica e tornar-se pastor ou pastora, uma posição que objetiva de maneira inequívoca a influência e controle de seus seguidores. Contudo, o desejo por tal manipulação se extende também a todos os demais, fiel ou não, uma monitorização contínua sobre o sexo da humanidade. Se, portanto, qualquer líder religioso pode aplicar sua própria interpretação ao que seria um livro de regras e escolher apenas o que lhe interessa, por que eu não poderia realizar o mesmo? Acima da obsessão com o sexo alheio eu me volto ao que deveria ser a única regra para os cristãos: "ame ao próximo como a ti mesmo". Assim, procedo neste trabalho com a intervenção de tinta acrílica preta na forma de censura sobre todas as regras que vão de encontro ao que minha longa educação cristã me propôs como óbvio. Na posição de pastora eu destaco as únicas palavras que se adequam à realidade humana por meio de minha interpretação bíblica de Leviticos: a palavra "AMA".
